St. Joseph’s school, Bettiah is a Catholic Minority Institution managed by the members of the International Catholic women Religious’ Congregation known as “Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross”, North-East Province. The Congregation was founded in Switzerland, in 1856 by Fr. Theodosius Florentini O.F.M. Cap. and Mother Maria Theresa Scherer. The member of this congregation work in almost all the continents of the world. The Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross, imbued with the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and inspired by the founders’ charism of "compassionate Love to all" value the apostolate of education a very effective expression of the charism. The motto of the congregation is "The need of the time is the will of God". Keeping the motto in mind, the sisters have established themselves in many states of our country, responding the needs of the place.
St. Joseph’s CBSE School, Bettiah, came into existence on 2nd April 2003, in response to the long standing pressing need for an English Medium School. The School promotes only girl children irrespective of caste, creed or social status. The medium of instruction is English. St. Joseph’s School, receives no Government or private aid but it is financed by Bettiah Holy Cross Sisters Society and the fee charged from students is the only source of Income. The fee structure is revised to provide better facilities to students and teachers and for the better function of the institution.
The Sisters reached India, (Bettiah) to take up the various apostolate in the year 1894. St. Joseph’s CBSE School, Bettiah, came into existence on 2nd April 2003, in response to the long standing pressing need for an English Medium School. St. Joseph’s School, Bettiah is owned by “Bettiah Holy Cross Sisters’ Society” under the Societies Registration Act 1860.
The School promotes education only for the girl children irrespective of caste, creed or social status. The medium of instruction is English. The academic year is from April to March as we follow the C.B.S.C. Pattern. All students are taught the essentials of religion which are acceptable to people of all faiths and efforts are made continually to develop and draw out values in the life of all students. St. Joseph’s school aims at the all-round development of the students, physical, spiritual, mental, emotional and cultural abilities, so to make them socially fit. Utmost importance is given to their character formation by inculcating positive values, self-image and self-worth in the students. In order to inculcate moral and spiritual values in our students we give more stress to value education (Moral Science).
Along with qualitative teaching and learning every child is given an opportunity to tap his or her multiple intelligence, school organizes various co-curricular activities and competitions in order to bring out the hidden talents and abilities of our children and to make them confident. Students are respected, appreciated and guided at every step, so that they are well moulded in their initial stage itself.

Students are admitted to LKG & Std. VI. Applications for admission to LKG are ordinarily filled online three months prior to the commencement of the academic year. The dates for applying are announced every year through the school website. The academic year begins in the first week of April. Normally, casual vacancies in other Classes are filled in after the commencement of the academic year. However, no new admission will be given in Class IX and X
An affidavit stating the date of Birth should be submitted at the time of admission along with the date of birth certificate issued by the competent authority. No further change will be made once this date has been registered in the school records.
Selection of the candidates is done on the basis of a process approved by the governing body of the school. Any Pressure for admission by the offer of donation, letters of recommendation or influence of any nature will automatically disqualify the candidate for admission to any standard.
Medium of Instruction: Medium of instruction for all classes are in English.
